In the Pumpkin?

Good morning, it is Sunday.

I have not blogged in like two weeks! Why? Well, how fun would this blog be: Woke up at 5:00 am for boot camp (insert photo of the pitch dark world), went to work, got home, Hansen is home and sleeping on couch (insert photo of Hansen sleeping on couch) Maren was in jammies by 5:30 pm (insert photo of Maren in jammies). Watched some sport or political debate on the TV. Bed time by like 9:00pm for the oldies and the kids just getting going. Everyday. Boring. LOL.

But some things have happened in the last couple of weeks, and I have a picture or two, so welcome back.

Pumpkin carving:
Carving got off to an interesting start as Flareon just wanted to jump inside the pumpkins! He would be sent off to a different room, then run right back and jump in a pumpkin. After sending him into the garage, some real carving took place.
Star Wars themes! Nice job Hansen and Lillie!
These pumpkins look great!
Band concert time. This concert the kids get to dress up in their Halloween costumes. Lillie is in the very middle back of this photo. I won't show you a close up of her costume just yet. Why? Because it is perfect, and matchers with Hansen's costume. So you will have to wait to see the two of them together in a couple of days.
Kentlake had a pep rally at 6:00am on Friday. Yup, the local TV station chooses a school to have an early morning pep rally for their football game. Our team ended up getting beat by Kentwood, but the pep assembly was cool.

In sadder news: Our old cat Joe had to be put down at age 15. He went downhill fast, which was kind of surprising. Hansen wanted to come along and the vet was very nice. RIP Joe.

See you tomorrow.

Man Of La Mancha.

Good morning, it is Thursday.

I had a nice birthday week! Thanks for the birthday wishes:) Happy Birthday to Eric as well. My two days of being two years older than him have passed. Back to one year older...
Maren brought me to Man Of La Mancha at the 5th Ave for my birthday. It was a very good show, the set was more contemporary than what you may have in your mind, but I enjoyed it very much. Man Of La Mancha is an even more special play than others [for me] as I have Grandpa Sandler's Don Quixote and Sancho Sanza statues on my mantle. Don Quixote's spear still has tape holding it together from when Eric and I destroyed it by flinging pillows at each other on our Florida visit like 35 years ago. Sigh. Today I'm not sad about that accident in the least, because without it, broken Don Quixote wouldn't have been forever linked to me, and he probably wouldn't be standing on my mantle right now...

Other exciting things to happen on my birthday? Credit card fraud. I know right. Yesterday the new cards came in the mail. Along with new numbers. And the task of figuring what accounts I have linked to said card. Groan. And my iphone 5 died. So I hooked my iphone 4 back up for a couple of days. I've since hooked up Hansen's old Samsung 4, which is working out pretty well. I could just go out and pick up a new phone, but I'm feeling a bit cheap. And at my age, I do what I want...preferably without an added monthly cost:)
Yesterday Lillie and I took advantage of the nice weather (which is long gone) to check out a local u-pick pumpkin patch. It was a bit rural so to say, but we had a great time. We found 5 pumpkins of differing colors and sizes. We also picked up a corn stalk and a jar of honey. The corn stalk is super cool!
Pumpkins can be dangerous!
This is the latest wallpaper on my Facebook feed. This picture was photoshopped by a graphic art student at my school. The teacher asked for photos we thought the kids may enjoy photoshopping, and I sent one of me spray painting a dresser in the back yard. In the original I'm even facing the opposite direction.  I like this photo!

I hope all my east coast family have survived Matthew just fine. We have the remnants of a typhoon on track to visit our area over the weekend!

See you tomorrow.

Homecoming.

Good morning, it is Sunday.

Last night was Hansen's Homecoming Dance Jr. Year. The night before was his school's Homecoming Football game. And tomorrow's my birthday, so yeah, it's been a fun weekend.
Of course it's been raining. Nothing like those in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, hope you're all doing well! This is a photo one of the other parents took of the group Hansen went to dinner with. There we a few "couples" here, but for the most part this is just one big group of friends.
Just the guys. Hansen is second from the left. I'll spare you from the picture of them all "dabbing". LOL.
Right after snapping the guys picture, I just turned around and snapped this one of the girls staying dry and waiting their turn. The thing that cracks me up about this picture is the little sister on the right having absolutely zero fun!
The night before was the football game. Before the start the Cross Country team ran the game ball from the school to the field (10 miles). A few ran the whole was, others just a leg or two. Hansen has been sidelined with a sore knee, but he did join them for the lap around the track. By game time the stands were filled and KL beat the Tahoma team quite easily.
This is the trophy for the Covington Cup golf tournament. I've been helping coach the KL golf team this season. I took the Varsity boys to the final event. While the coach of a golf team doesn't do too much coaching on match day, I'm happy to report that under my watch the boys varsity team had the best scoring day of any KL team in the history of the school! Nice job guys.
Maren sent me this picture of her work retreat from the other day. Had to post this one on the blog!
After getting Hansen on the way to his Homecoming pictures/dinner/dance, it was off to a small birthday party for me. Yay! Here is Avery showing off the SpongeBob card she picked out for me. The video is even better!

See you tomorrow.

What's Your Sign?

Good evening, it is Tuesday.

As a couple of birthdays roam around this time of year, an article Maren sent me seems more interesting than usual. Check this out, according to NASA, the Babylonians left out an astrological sign to fit their 12 month calendar. But the sky has changed over the last 3000 years and so NASA has put the 13th sign back in the list. So if you're interested, here is the new updated (or very old if you'd rather) list of 13 astrological signs:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11 – April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 – Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan 20
OMG! I'm not a Libra any longer! And Maren is not a Capricorn any longer! AGH! What do you think? Maybe being a Vergo for the second half of my life will be a good thing?
See you tomorrow.
