Third time is the charm.

Good morning, it is Friday.

Yes, three days in a row. That is how many times in the last three days Lillie has been to the orthodontist. Tuesday she had her regular check up and everything looked great. Wednesday her orthodontic appliance broke at school and we took her to the orthodontist to have it fixed. They removed it, ordered a new part overnight, and yesterday was the third day in a row as they put it back together.
The cool thing about the last two visits was that the doctor is on vacation and the place was deserted! Lillie was the only patient in the building as an assistant fixed her braces. How cool is that? I thought the orthodontist's office did a great job on Lillie's behalf.

Last night I went to Lillie's open house at the middle school, and a few days prior I went to Hansen's open house at the high school. I really enjoy these evenings because you follow your student's schedule exactly as they do. Walking to different classes and meeting the teachers. After just 10 minutes you move to the next class. Both Lillie and Hansen seem to have wonderful schedules with very good teachers. Preston also started classes yesterday up at WWU. Today he will have the bulk of his classes as Thursday is a lighter day for him. So far Preston seems to be having a great time in college!

See you tomorrow.

WWU Time!

Good evening, it is Sunday.

Today Preston starts his new adventure. College! A day of days for sure. We loaded up the minivan and made the two hour plus drive to Bellingham to drop him off.
Yup, we were pretty loaded up. But we didn't bring anything home, I think Preston brought about the perfect amount of stuff.
A Maren selfie of the gang on the drive up.
By the time we got to Bellingham the rain was pouring down. The unloading system was pretty slick. I think from when we pulled in to we left it was about an hour and half. And in that time Preston got his room keys, we unloaded the van, and set up room. It was about the perfect amount of time.
Hansen gives Preston's new dorm room two thumbs up!
Lillie helping make the upper bunk for Preston. Then crashing on the comfy pillows.
Maren helped Preston unload his stuff and set up his desk and closet. This dorm is very nice.
Five guys will share this little common room. Three share Preston's room and a couple of guys they just met are on the other side of this common room. It's a very cool set up in a nice building.
Nick and Connor had Preston's PS3 up and playing FIFA by the time we left. These guys will have a great time for sure. School does not start till Thursday, so they have a few days to explore their new world.
The rest of us hit a dine in Pizza Hut on the drive home. Lillie said it is the first time she has ever been in a dine in Pizza Hut. We made it home safe and sound. It is a little quite around here as I type, and will take everyone a while to get used to Preston off at college. Of course, there is no place else in the whole world we would rather have Preston be as college rolls around. He is at at great University with good friends. Yay! But we are allowed to miss him just a little bit, right? Have a great time at WWU Preston! Go Vikings!

See you tomorrow.

Blink!

Good evening, it is Saturday.

Happy Birthday Preston! Today marks one year that Preston has been a legal adult, yup, nineteen! That happened in a blink didn't it? Just a blink ago Preston was:
One!
Today was his birthday party complete with cousins, grandparents, aunties, and the rest of us. Preston's choice dinner was tacos, so tacos we had. And cake. And presents!
Opening presents! His gifts were perfect, and all will be transported to college tomorrow. That's right, tomorrow we move Preston to his college dorm room. Currently the living room is a staging station as we load up the van tomorrow. I'd say on a scale of zero to Spongebob:
Preston is ready.

See you tomorrow.

Less than a week!

Good evening, it is Tuesday.

I was looking at my pictures and realized I have not posted in quite awhile. The problem is that I don't have photographers taking photos of me! Ha. This month has been the start of some fun stuff for all of us. I have started playing and guesting in tennis leagues. Where is the photo proof? Not existent, so just google a pic of Roger Federer and you have the idea. Preston has been my playing partner on the days I don't have league, I'd say we're pretty even these days, but he is leaving to college in less than a week. Yes, I said it, he is leaving to college in less than a week! And Maren, check her out, she has started Zumba a couple days a week. No Zumba pictures of her either, so google Zumba and just put Maren in a Zumba dance in your mind's eye. Along with Zumba, Maren signed her and I up for Saturday mornings boot camp. Not book camp, boot camp. SORE! SORE! and SORE! Hansen is running Cross Country, I may get a pic of him running tomorrow at his meet. We also try to get in some archery practice whenever possible. And lastly, Lillie is fitting nicely into middle school. Luckily my schedule allows me to give her a ride to school as she carries her backpack, trombone, and soon a computer to and from school each day!
I do have this picture of tennis balls lined up with the names of playing partners. On league days I show up, find my court and partners and tennis it up for 90 minutes. I am improving quickly and may even need to go up a league by next year.
How about Preston and his buddy Nick at the Seattle Seahawks game? Yup! These two will also be college roommates in a week. I'd say they are squeezing as much fun as possible out of the last few weeks of their summer.

That's all for now, see you tomorrow.

First!

Good evening, it is Tuesday.

School started for all of us on Monday. Hansen is now in 10th grade while Lillie is starting 7th grade. Also a first for me, first day working at a high school. At the end of last year my hours were cut and I ended up in an unassigned pool. I landed at Hansen's high school. Preston didn't have school, so he went golfing!
Here is our little picture collage. Hansen leaves for school before Lillie even wakes up! I'm lucky that my part-time schedule allows me to start late enough that I get to drop Lillie off to school then zip to work.
OK, one without the old guy.

Saturday Preston and I ventured up to Snohomish for the Marta Connell golf tournament. I've played in this event many times, but this is the first time I had Preston as my partner. Yes, we played great. Preston hit many great shots and when he missed, I hit great shots. We really only could have possibly shot a few strokes better. We ended up in second place! Yes, Preston and I did all the scoring for the tournament, but we really did earn second place:) As this is a fund raiser, we donated our winnings back to the charity. Somehow my raffle ticket was the second one called! I could have chosen a nice set of Taylormade irons, but I like my clubs just fine so I decided to pick something for Preston. There were no left handed clubs, so I picked him a couple of tickets to go to Thursday's Seattle Seahawks game. How cool is that? He will venture up there with a friend and surely have a great time. John and Carol drove up with us and had a nice time too. John had a raffle ticket called and chose Preston a very nice dozen golf balls. Great tournament!
We golfed with Deric and Brock and had a great time. Dave took some cool pictures. Here is Preston viewed through a power cart.
Me hitting a drive. FORE!

See you tomorrow.
