Getting back on track.

Good morning, it is Wednesday.

Getting in a routine that actually works for doing homework and practicing for Hansen and Lillie has not been so easy. Preston always just did his work no questions asked, but it is not so easy with the littles. I am sure we will get there. Last night worked better, Preston helped Lillie with the piano, then I helped her with her homework. Maren helped Hansen with his homework after I took him to soccer. We have made a few concessions to ease our lives, such as if you have soccer or dance practice, you can take the day off of piano practice. As a family we are on the verge of over programing, but as individuals we seem on track, we just need a little help from our friends.
Preston helping Lillie with the piano. Lillie loved her new tutor...and I think Preston was not totally bored to death as teens can be with any chore not on their "fun" list.
Maren helping Hansen with homework. Hansen does much better with gentle nudges from his mom than the nudges from his less patient dad. Can you learn more patience when your like 40 in just a matter of days? Don't freaking know, don't freaking care! (just joking)
I am struggling with bus passes for Lillie. The KSD is offering Lillie a ride to school each day, but on a different bus than her brother. Maren thinks I should be grateful that they're even offering, but having two buses seems wrong and just makes my blood boil. Today I will try to gently plead with Hansen's bus driver before doing anything drastic.
See you tomorrow.

Who was the picky eater?

Good morning, it is Tuesday.

Yesterday was all over the place. Maren worked late, Preston had soccer, Lillie went to Dance class, Hansen got to play with his buddy Nick, but the thing that made the evening the roughest...a picky eater! Who in our family was the picky eater last night you ask? You do have a couple of reasonable choices. This is kind of like a skit on AFV, I could show one kid leaving the table, one kid at the table, and one kid under the table. Well...last night the picky eater was Hansen! Yes, Hansen decided to be a picky eater and not budge! He was offered dinner at Nick's house, would not eat it. Then he was offered dinner at our house and would not eat it. To make matters worse, he decided he did not want to do his homework and stuff until he was fed something he "liked". Hmph! Well, after he calmed down, realized he would not actually starve to his death, he finished his homework and we were able to move on in a somewhat civilized manner. It was not like he was offered only Lima Beans and Liver...he was offered a bean quesadilla at Nick's house and brown rice and steak at our house.

Today is raining and cold in our neck of the woods. Hansen has soccer practice, but I think that is it for this family.

See you tomorrow.

Witchypoo!

Good morning, it is Monday.

This weekend was a very busy weekend. From two soccer games to two birthday parties, to defrosting the freezer in the garage, we kept busy one way or another. Here are a few pics:
Witchypoo! Yup, brought down the Halloween Box. Lillie used to be so scared of this puppet. Preston could just make it look at her and she would be off crying. Now she is bigger and can control the puppet and scare everyone else! The next time Jack and Avery come by...they better have a clean diaper!
A birthday party at one of Maren's co-worker's house brought Charlie Williams, the Noise Guy, for a private party. It was great. Lillie is in the front row on the ground, Hansen in the chairs. The party was lots of fun, Sounders on TV, great food, and the Noise Guy. How could you go wrong? Oh yeah, hang a pinata between two rakes, it worked out, but really!
Hansen was the goalie for his team, and they won their first game! Hansen made a few very good stops and looked like a natural in goal.
Today is just another manic Monday.
See you tomorrow.

Shopping at Target.

Good morning, it is Saturday.

Yesterday we finished the first full week of school! We were all a bit exhausted, but we also had a free evening. Preston had a bunch of birthday money (still does, but much less) burning a hole in his pocket and L and H had some as well. With a couple of birthday parties to attend this weekend that we needed to shop for, we headed out to Target. I took a few pictures of things at the store that piqued our interests, you can guess which purchased and which was not.

I found these Smurfs while slowly going up and down every single toy isle with Lillie. Who knew Smurfs were back in style? But no, I did not buy a Smurf.
Preston, Hansen and Lillie all pointed out the ShamWOW! to me. They love the commercials and there is a youtube video where this kid spoofs the Black Eyed Peas song Boom Boom Pow and creats a song called ShamWOW Now which is kind of funny. Did we buy a ShamWOW? Uh, ShamNO!
Now for what Preston found, and purchased. A Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker. Yup, Preston did not fall far from the Maren tree. Huge fancy appliances promising delicious frozen drinks? Cool! At 13 I would have spent all my money on parts for my bicycle or Remote Control cars. Now Preston will have Slurpee drinks like everyday.
Today we have a couple of soccer games and Maren and Lillie have a birthday party to go to.
See you tomorrow.

TGIF.

Good morning, it is Friday.

Yesterday Maren went back to school. Well, to Preston's middle school open house. Sounds like each teacher talked for 10 minutes, then the parents had 4 minutes to get to the next class. She went to all 6 classes! Sounds like Maren was pleased with all of Preston's teachers as is Preston. There was an assembly before hand to learn all about computer use and the computers all the middle school students will be receiving. We can even check Preston's daily homework online. Amazing.

Lillie and Hansen had church choir last night. Lillie is old enough this year and really enjoyed the choir practice. Hansen is the only boy on the choir this year. He seems OK with that.

Not sure what today will bring. I think Hansen has soccer practice and the rest of us are just glad it is Friday.

See you tomorrow.

13 year old check up. Obama Chia Head?

Good morning, it is Thursday.

Yesterday Preston has his 13 year old check up and sports physical. He is 5 foot 7 1/4 inches tall and 111 pounds. The doctor who is very no nonsense about everything, when checking his lungs and stomach said, "you're not one of those chubby ones." True, Preston is super thin, I think his waist is actually smaller than Hansen's...and Hansen is just a solidly built kid, not chubby either. Preston is cleared to play any sport, and he is talking about trying out for basketball. He was good at basketball as a kid. Why not? My two bad sports were soccer and basketball, may as well be Preston's favorites.

Hansen and Lillie got back into the swing of piano lessons last night as well. Sounds like they had good lessons and were happy to be playing again.

We were out of the important items last night (coffee, bread, milk, gas for the car) so I took a quick trip shopping. Standing at the check out area at Fred Meyer, look what I saw? A Chia head of President Obama and George Washington. Crazy!

See you tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Amber. The back yard.

Good morning, it is Wednesday.

Today is my little sister's birthday! Happy birthday Amber!

Yesterday was a very warm day around here. It may have been around 90 degrees at some point as my walk home from work was in punishing heat, but really the days are short enough that it never seemed too bad. In the summer when it would get hot it would stay hot all evening, not yesterday.

It was nice enough to BBQ for dinner and venture into the back yard. The edges of the yard are kind of unkempt this season, and the grass is dead from the kids playing soccer nonstop, but there are some nice things around. Here is a flower that Maren found in the back yard...go figure!

This is the flaming BBQ. I know I have taken pics like this one, but it is just cool with all the flames, totally beats the modern propane BBQs that are everywhere. I did over cook last nights burgers while playing with the fire, I did not mind, but Hansen was a bit put out.
Preston had asked Lillie to get him a pop from the garage as she was going that way. She brought him a sprite. When Preston opened the can of pop it sprayed all over and bubbled way over all over Preston and the table. While Preston freaked a bit and the rest of us laughed a bit, Lillie said, "Oh yeah, I dropped your pop!" Thanks for the heads up!
Last night was also open house at Grass Lake. We were introduced to all the teachers, and got to see the kid's classrooms and hear about their schedules. I went to Lillie's class while Maren went to Hansen's class. The kids really enjoy their new school. We are looking foward to a great school year!
See you tomorrow.

making it through the week.

Good morning, it is Tuesday.

Today is supposed to get to about 90 degrees here!?! Can you believe it? Hard to believe, but the weather has been nice for the last while.

We made it thought our schedule yesterday no problem. Lillie likes her new dance class just fine, what she likes the most is not having to wear her ballet clothes the whole time. As this is a combo jazz/ hip hop class she get to wear whatever she wants, and tennis shoes the last part of class. Hansen had to hang with me at dance class as Preston was at soccer and Maren was working late, but he just played Nintendo DS the whole time.

At anytime during the day yesterday, other than the school hours when the soccer ball had to stay at home, this is how you would have seen Preston:

Tonight is curriculum night at Grass Lake, we will be there to visit both Lillie and Hansen's class.

See you tomorrow.

Another birthday party, back to normal.

Good morning, it is Monday.

Preston had another good day of celebrating his birthday. This time at John and Carol's house with the family. This year Preston actually made a birthday list complete with pictures and links pasted into a word document. It worked out perfectly for him as by the time all his presents were open, he had checked off most of the list. Here is Preston blowing out the candles on his soccer ball cake, holding a new soccer ball, and wearing his new soccer shoes. The kid does love soccer these days.

Other things that happened this weekend you ask? Hansen had a soccer game (his team lost-boo), Lillie and Hansen got to go to a Lego building fest thing at the local Walmart where they got to build and keep a Lego pencil holder, and Jack and Avery now call me Ju-Ju.

Well, now that the birthday weekend is over, it is back to business as usual around here. Maren works late today, Preston has soccer practice, and Lillie has dance class.
See you tomorrow.

Preston's 13th birthday day.

Good morning, it is Sunday.

Preston had a great birthday. His team won their soccer game in the last second! It was cool, Preston had scored the first 2 goals to put his team up 2-0, but the other team rallied and took the lead with about 15 minutes to play. A very tense last 15 minutes found Preston back on the field (he got a break after getting tripped up by a kid on the other team who earned a yellow card on the play) and a quick goal on a corner kick made the game tied. Preston was about to take free kick from about 30 yards in the last few seconds of the game, when he quickly switched with Kyle (a left footed kid on the team) and Kyle was able to kick the ball around the wall that was built for the right footed Preston, Kyle curved the ball into the goal around the goalie for the win. It is nice to be on the winning side of these last second game changes, last year Preston's team lost their share of these types of game.

In the evening we invited the soccer team to Godfather's Pizza in Auburn for a Pizza party. Nearly everyone showed up and Preston had a very fun party! The kids all had all the pizza, pop and cake they could handle...not to mention video games at their arcade. Maren had Lillie and another mom or two to talk to, but it was kind of a guy occasion. Let me just say, a room full of 13 year old boys and their dads don't do the "Happy Birthday" song justice! Preston did very well in the gift-card and cash department!
Here is the dad table, having a beer and watching college football. Staying for the party worked out just fine for these dads. Everyone was very happy after a great win by the soccer team and an amazing win by the University of Washington Huskies Football team!
Cake wars, which is better?
The Costco cake we purchased for the pizza party, or...
The cake Maren a I made for today's family party this afternoon?
See you tomorrow.

Happy 13th Birthday Preston

Good morning, it is Saturday.

Happy 13th birthday to our amazing Preston!!! Yup, he is a teenager now...look out world!

Here are a few recent pictures you may or may not have seen of the birthday boy:
Preston allowing his little sister to put ponytails in his hair.
Preston (middle) showing off his own style by wearing Barcelona gear to the Sounders v. Barcelona soccer game.
Preston and Connor on the first day of 7th grade earlier this week. Yes, Preston is very tall. Seems like he has been a teenager for a while now, but no...this is his first day.
Another Preston and Connor picture, this time winning a soccer tournament.
This is not of Preston, but of our new Beatles Rockband! But Preston does play whatever instrument on the "expert" level while the rest of us play on "easy"...and Preston still has a higher score then the rest of us not so coordinated folks.
This morning Preston has soccer, Hansen has soccer in the afternoon, and in the evening we are having a big pizza party at Godfather's Pizza for his soccer team to celebrate Preston's birthday.
See you tomorrow.

Costco for ice-cream.

Good morning, it is Friday!

What do you do when you have no sports practices and no activities on the calendar? You celebrate because it will not happen again for a long time! Costco to order a birthday cake for some kid about to be a teenager, and some soft serve ice-cream works just fine. We always run into friends of someone at Costco. Yesterday it was Preston's 6th grade camp councilor.

Lillie found the Halloween outfits. We have not even thought about Halloween costumes yet. I started feeling behind for just a second as some of you have...but we won't figure it out until well into October, like the 28th. By then all these costumes will be sold out and we will have to come up with something from our closets or make something by hand.
See you tomorrow.

No soccer tonight!

Good morning, it is Thursday.

Woo Hoo, no soccer practice tonight. We have had four soccer practices in the last three nights. Not only that, but the times keep changing as daylight hours are being lost at a very fast pace. Just a few weeks ago it was getting dark at nearly 9:00pm, now it is quite dark at 7:15pm. The crazy thing is is that now soccer practices have a tendency to get later, not earlier...just shifted to lit soccer fields. I must admit that lit soccer fields are cool, but we are also fighting with homework as well. So far not too much homework has been assigned, but that is my opinion, you can ask Preston and Hansen their opinion separately.

Alright, I don't have much for you today, see you tomorrow.

First day of school

Good morning, it is Wednesday.

First day of school went just fine. Everyone got to their respective school and had a very nice time. I spent the day organizing my workspace and getting ready for assessing kids tomorrow for word study classes. I think all the kids like their schedules. Hansen is happy being back with GL friends. Lillie recogonized a few frieinds in her class and said she had a good day. Preston really enjoyed his Jr. High School. So all in all, a success. Today will be new challenges as Hansen will be on the bus with neighbor Julia as she will be here at 7:30am...but Lillie does not have a bus pass so she will be riding to school with a friend.
Preston and Connor goofing off before school. A couple of Jr. High kids....they have been friends and neighbors since they were born. Oddly enough, this is the first year they actually have a class together at school, infact they have two classes together.
Hansen and Lillie getting ready to go to load up in mom's car for the first day of school.
See you tomorrow.

School today, Lillie joke.

Good morning, it is Tuesday.

This is the day that school starts for me and the kids! We are all a bit nervous, but I am sure it will work out fine. All the kids are going to a new school this year, Preston to Cedar Heights Jr. High, Hansen and Lillie to Grass Lake. I am staying at Cedar Valley. This year we have carpools and buses to deal with, groan.

Our latest game to play in the car while driving somewhere is that I give a silly joke to the crowd, then the crowd takes turns coming up with random answers. Started with simple stuff like, "Why did the Chicken cross the street?", with random answers like "Because the fish was out of the water!". Then things morph from there. My favorite one so far is a Lillie morph of several answers with a morph of a question as well. Question: "Why was the fish not in the water?", Lillie answers, "Because he was dying to go to the Bock Bock Show at the Baaarrrnnn!...Do you get it???He was dying because he was not in the water, and dying to see the Bock Bock Show at the Baaarrrnnn!!!Do you get it? Do you get it?" The rest of us are just cracking up, well, I am anyhow. You have to have heard the way she said the whole bock bock at the barn...priceless.

Ok, off to wake up the masses for school.

See you tomorrow.

Joely clothes, end of summer.

Good morning, it is Monday.

Yesterday was quite a day. We started the day at church. Rally Sunday. The kick off of Sunday school and just getting back from taking time off in the summer. The kids got to hang with some friends, have a bbq, and remember that church is not so bad.

After church Maren went out for coffee with her friend Judy. Judy had a special delivery for Lillie, clothes from Joely! Here is a picture of Lillie wearing an outfit and holding an outfit of very cute clothes handed down from Joely.

Yesterday was the last day of the season for the pool at the KSTC. We packed up our bbq stuff and made an evening out of celebrating a great summer. Lots of swimming, diving (well kind of, Lillie and Hansen do crazy stuff off the diving board, but land on their feet. Preston likes doing front flips and landing on his feet as well, but he had some very cool face plants while trying for one and a half ending in a dive. I stick to the cannonball.), eating, playing tennis and visiting. Maren ran into a Library friend named Robin and they had a very nice time hanging out.

We heard a rumor that the teacher's union reached a tentative agreement last night, we may have school tomorrow! We don't really need to be the only school district in the country on strike any longer. With the pool closed, and school starting tomorrow, summer is officially over!

See you tomorrow.

Marta golf tournament, workshop, soccer, jamboree, twins, and pool.

Good morning, it is Sunday.

Yesterday was a day that had us all going different directions with help needed from John and Carol just to make the day happen. I played in and was the official scorer of the 9th annual Marta Connell golf tournament (a fund raiser for Pulmonary Primary Hypertension in Maren's cousin Marta's memory), Maren taught a day long workshop on world language story training, Hansen had his Soccer Jamboree, Preston had a soccer game, and Lillie needed to be entertained! Carol came out to our house early and watched Hansen and Lillie, taking them to the Jamboree. Mel and the twins also came out and made a day at the park and the jamboree. Preston was with John at his soccer game, then to the golf tournament to say hi. Maren and I were on our own. Here is a picture of Terry Ann checking golfers in under the big banner. The tournament went very well. No, Steve and I did not win, heck, we did not even place...but I did win a KP. There were some pretty good scores being shot by other teams!
After Maren got home and Carol went home, Maren took the kids to the pool for a few hours. Sounds like the weather was great!

Today is Sunday School kick off at church, and another nice day...a little slower paced thankfully.

See you tomorrow.

A day at the Fair.

Good morning, it is Saturday.

Yesterday was free day at the Fair. Free from 10am to noon for the first day. We had planned on going all along, then found out that Mel, Court, Jack, Avery, Stef and Paul were going as well. Preston invited his friend Nick and everyone else in the Kent School District (on strike, so no school) was there too. The weather was perfect, the traffic was horrible, the fair was crowded, and some of the Llamas (a moody Llama freaked me and Lillie out in the petting zoo!) were not so happy to there! Here are a few pics:
Hansen, Nick, and Preston show off their winnings! Preston and Nick went their own way and decided they enjoyed winning cups and plates at the dime toss the best. The cups Preston "won" remind me of the water glasses at a Denny's restaurant.
Lillie, Stef, and Paul check out the cats. Yes, there is a cats room at the fair! Very clever rooms made for cats that would rather not be there. Very fun. Hansen loved the sign over one "pirate" cats litter box that read, "Aarg, beware of the poop deck!"
Jack and Avery got to experience the fair from their lounge chairs...rolling lounge chairs would be my choice over walking every day!
Lots of clever trinkets and shops line the fair. We did not get the chance to see any demonstrations of Sham Wows or Miracle Cutters or anything too fancy, but I did like these little wooden Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Hansen liked the Native American carvings the best!
Lillie decided that a great big bad of cotton candy would do for lunch just fine! Why not? It is the Fair after all.
After the fair we drove up the hill to the Oman's house for a dinner with visiting cousin (or brother if you're the host) Ethan. This pic cracked me up, Kraig and Ethan sitting exactly the same, eating in exactly the same way at the same time, in between downs of a college football game on the TV. You might think they are related!
See you tomorrow.

Washing the van.

Good morning, it is Friday.

If you watch commercials during any kid show these days, you will have seen one about Danimals Crushable Yogurts. Here is a picture of Preston crushing Lillie who is crushing a Danimals! Just a fun picture.
Seven years ago I only reluctantly would let Preston help me wash my car. For a couple of reasons. 1) I had a cooler car and did not want it scratched by irresponsible washing. 2) Preston would just spray me with the hose, not the car. And the biggie, 3) I must not have been so relaxed as who really cares about numbers 1 and 2 anyhow? Yesterday Lillie wanted to do more than just help wash my car, she thought she could do the whole thing. She did well, but really only washed about 1/3rd of the car...good I was there to help.
Lillie scrubbing the car in her choice of car washing outfits...short skirt and leather boots!
Still washing the car. More fun than boring at this point. Yes, seven years ago I would have never use an extension brush with plastic bristles either. Poor van, it only gets washed like twice per year...I am actually kind of shocked at how silver rather than black the wheels really are. There is lots of pitch on the car from who knows where, and it is staying put for now.
And...seeing if she can fill up little holes in the ground with water rather than washing the car because spraying water is fun, and washing the car has gotten boring.
Last night Maren made this very yummy meat pizza from scratch. There is plenty left for me today as Lillie won't touch the meat and Hansen won't touch the sauce. Boo Hoo for them, it was a darn good pizza.
See you tomorrow.

Wii tournament.

Good morning, it is Thursday.

Last night after soccer practices Preston invited Connor to spend the night. May as well, there is no school! I am guessing that school will start soon, if not back in school by the 15th then folks (like me) start loosing health care and benefits. If the timeline is crossed where KSD employees loose benefits [update...just in, KSD will be extending benefits to staff through October!], then the strike could just go on forever. On the health care tangent...I sure thought Obama gave a very good speech last night! OK, back to our house. The kids are just waking up from sleeping on the living room floor and soon they will be thinking about breakfast. Last night we held a Wii Sports Championship, with the winner getting to decide what is for breakfast (within reason). Below is a picture of the tournament results. Preston was the big winner, but I did give him a good run for his money. Preston is too good at Wii tennis, if Wii Bowling or golf would have been the final round, I may have been able to win. Looks like we will be having waffles for breakfast.

This picture is Preston loading up his newest ice-cream maker. I would say that after soccer, ice-cream is a close favorite. This is a fancy ice-cream maker he picked up at Goodwill for $5.00. It works just fine, and if he is making ice-cream, the littles will be begging no matter how bad it tastes! Yesterday's batch was basically very cold vanilla yogurt with chocolate chips...and no one complained!
On the braces front, yesterday Preston traded the bar in the roof of his mouth for rubber bands. A very good trade in his opinion.
See you tomorrow.

09-09-09

Good morning, it is Wednesday.

09-09-09...cool day! It will be 1001 years before you see a date like this again with single digits...but next year we will see 10-10-10, yup, on my birthday!

Today is the day that Beatles Rock Band comes out!!! We ordered it online, so it will probably not be here for a week. Bummer, but it was worth the savings. The version we ordered was much cheaper than the ones we could buy at the local gaming stores because I was just not interested in spending extra $$$ for a fancy drum set or replica guitar, but I did need those pieces for the Wii (our current Rock Band is for the PS2, and they are not making this Rock Band for the PS2...they want you to buy a PS3) Besides, it is the songs and the gaming I am interested in. There is a cool show that Maren and I watched last night "ondemand" that is the making of the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil show in Vegas. We may actually have to plan a trip to Vegas just to see this show, it just looks amazing!

Last night while picking up Preston from a friend's house, I stopped and filled up the gas tank in my van. I was just looking around killing time (not looking at the $$$ gauge moving so fast you can't actually see it) and these were the big signs staring at me. Very clever.

Who knew there were specific exercises one should be doing while filling up your gas tank? I like the guy with two heads.
This ones is even better, a guide to splattered bugs on your windshield. If your a bug and you see a picture of yourself on this sign, avoid cars! I did actually wander over to the front windshield and check out one particular splatter, but no identifiable features we really left.
Preston has an orthodontist appointment today, he is hoping they remove the bar from the roof of his mouth. His appointment is at 3:40pm because we were trying to squeeze it in between school and soccer, but we still are not in school. Many 9-month paras like myself are starting to freak out about benefits, if school does not start in September, our benefits will expire. Yuk. At first glance it seems ridiculous that school would not start in September, but they way things are going, it may be a long time.
See you tomorrow.

Soccer champs.

Good morning, it is Tuesday.

Quite a final game for Preston's team. The other team scored a goal in the first ten minutes, and led the game 0-1 all the way to the last few minutes. The whole game was very physical with penalty after penalty and kids flopping and flying all over the field. Preston's team just never really got clicking, but with just a minute or two left Preston was able to make a header goal thanks to a good cross by one of his teammates. With the game tied everyone figured it would be going into free kicks to decide the championship. But in a desperate move to stop a shot in the penalty box, the other team was called with a handball which led to a penalty kick. Preston jumped in there and took the penalty kick, blasting it by the goalie to score the winning goal. Here is a picture of Synergy '96 receiving their blue ribbons! First ever tournament win for this team, Nice Job Synergy! Preston is in the back row, forth person from the right.
For those of you sad for Maren because all her Labor Day shopping plans got dashed, never fear...Preston and I skipped the spontaneous celebratory pizza party and pool party the kids were scrambling to create after the game so she could get in some deals.

We headed out to Burien for a very nice dinner at John and Carol's house and got to hang out with the kid's cousins, aunties, and grandparents and everyone had a good time.

On the school front, the teacher's union voted to defy the court order to return to the classrooms and to continue striking! Who knows when school will start for the kids? These are very important issues the teachers are striking for, so I hope the district comes up with a package soon that the teachers can feel good about signing sooner than later.

See you tomorrow.

Charging station.

Good morning, it is Monday.

Check out the Charging Station I made last night. Maren has been talking about one of these for awhile now, and I finally took a few minutes and made one. Basically we have a power strip with all our plug-ins for charging stuff under a not so fancy shoe box with the charging hook-ups sticking out. What we need to charge regularly are: i-pod, psp, Dell dj, Maren's phone, Maren's ear-tool, Nintendo Game Boy, and Julian's, Preston's, and Hansen's phone. Cool huh?

Yesterday was day 2 of soccer tournaments. Yes, it kept raining and clearing. Here is a rainbow above the soccer field yesterday. Preston's team kept winning and is now in the championship game this morning. Quite exciting! For most...Maren's plans for shopping the morning away for Labor Day sales is been ruined, unless she wants to take the littles with her.
To get to the soccer fields, we cross a big river (not sure which one) and there have been hundreds of people fishing! Here is a small view of a line of fishermen in the river...must be more fishermen than fish! Some friends have said that is an amazing fishing season, best in many many years.
See you tomorrow.

Random Blog

Good morning, it is Sunday.

The last couple of days my computer was freaking out, not letting me log onto blogger...I reset it to a previous day, and now it works great again. Strange. Since I missed a couple of days, this is kind of a random blog.

Yesterday Preston had to be awake at 5:45 AM (which means I did too) for his first of two soccer games. Their team is doing great this tournament and Preston has scored 5 goals already. This pic is of Preston barely awake at 6:00am.

We went out to Arby's Friday. The girls love their catsup and Arby's sauce!
Lillie and I went on a garage sale walk yesterday...yes, she dressed herself. The leopard print long gloves match the leopard spot shoes that she just bought the other day. I did have a few, "look who dressed up for garage sales!" comments. I would just say something stupid like, "I hope she grows out of this fashion stage before she hits high school!"
Hansen with a huge flying disc from a garage sale. We pumped it up with air and it would fly super far and high!
Rain and storms have been the theme for this weekend, here is a cool rainbow on the drive home from dinner the other day. Just happened to be behind a SUV with Cougar emblems all over it. Cougar fans can be so annoying with all there "Cougar Bling"! Go Huskies!
Lillie has been making designs with her Barbie dolls and begging me to take pictures of them. Here is one of her Barbie Parades. So very symmetrical!
Maren's newest Nikes! The girl does love her shoes, lucky for me she really enjoys a great deal on a good used pair of running shoes. These look like they were worn but maybe once or twice, and they were only $6.00. Somewhere in the world some girl paid like $70.00 for these shoes then gave them away after only wearing them a couple of times...I think I chose the right girl!
Today will be more soccer...and rain.
See you tomorrow.
