Yesterday was a good day for the boys and their sports/clubs. Maren and Lillie pretty much stayed home and out of the rain, so hopefully it was a good day for them as well.
Hansen had his first ever baseball game. Hansen was at the end of the lineup (number 11 on his shirt) as the coach lined them up by shirt number, so he did not get to bat in the last inning, but he did get two good at bats. First time up a good line shot to right field for a double. Second time up he hit a towering fly ball over the left fielder's head for a three run home run, the only home run by his team. By the time he got to home plate, he had caught up to the runner who was on 1st base and they crossed the plate at about the same time. The pic below is of Hansen getting ready for the game, he does look like a baseball player.
Preston had a great day at the Math Olympiad in Tacoma. There were 8 schools and over 300 kids participating. He saw some kids from other schools he knows from track and soccer and stuff. They put the kids in groups of 4, then give them a few hours of math problems that make the WASL look like child's play (yup these kids are excited to do the math for hours, on a Saturday, and many for no reward). There was a one hour session and a few twenty minute sessions. Preston and his group were one of only two groups in the entire Math Olympiad to get two medals! Below is a picture of Preston with his medals and shirt. The math club had a nice picnic at the Point Defiance Park afterward, boy did it rain! The kids still had lots of fun.
Today Hansen's class is leading prayer in the first service, so I have to go wake everyone up early. I will be putting up with a few moans and groans.
See you tomorrow.
