Yesterday we took a trip to the eye doctor. Hansen's eyes have changed quite a bit since last November, and will probably change quite a bit over the next couple of years. We picked up a his new eyeglasses prescription and headed down to LensCrafters in South Center Mall. It did not take us long to find the perfect glasses. We placed the order and headed over to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. We have not been to the Rainforest Cafe in years. Kids loved it...except Preston, he only "liked" it. He was being drug around against his will, boo hoo for him. Lillie and Hansen just thought the huge elephants we sat next to were amazing. At one point when the thunder and lightning started, Lillie got scared and started to be a bit loud about it. She was just fine, but the little girl at the table next to us needed to go cry on her mom's lap. We finished the meal with a Volcano desert. Yum. Lillie kept saying it was the best day of her life...I guess we need to get out more.
Our hour was done and we headed back to LensCrafters for Hansen's new glasses. These are the glasses we/he picked out:
Hansen really likes his bright yellow glasses case. The little orange stripe on the edge of the glasses is very cool as well.
Here is Hansen with his new glasses! He really likes them. We walked around the corner out of the store and looked over toward the Rainforest Cafe and the first thing Hansen said was, "Wow! The leaves are not all connected!" Of course he already knew that that is exactly what his Mom and his Nana first said when they got their glasses, so he enjoyed keeping tradition...and seeing the leaves! The whole drive home he kept reading signs off in the distance and telling us how he could not have seen that sign without his glasses. He does not need to wear them all the time, mainly at school to see the Smart Board and whenever he wants to see in the distance.
Lillie can't wait to be 9 years old in hopes that she too can have glasses! She really enjoyed picking out frames, this was her first choice. Only time will tell about her eyes. Preston still has perfect eyes, and I did not need glasses until college. Maren got her first pair at Hansen's age, and Lillie's grand parents are a mixed bag of needing and not needing glasses.
See you tomorrow.
